Our highly skilled nursing staff provides exceptional clinical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Primary care physicians are available for routine medical attention, and are on call around the clock for emergencies. We maintain professional relationships with all local hospitals for residents requiring emergency medical treatment.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapists focus on our residents regaining strength and balance, achieving optimal mobility skills, improving range of motion, relieving pain and promoting wound care management. They instruct residents in skilled techniques to improve their ability to walk, climb stairs and increase physical stamina. Professionals assess the need for specialized braces or equipment that may be required to improve self-reliance and safety, and assist with ambulation and prevention of contractures. Treatment includes: hot and cold applications, muscular stimulation, therapeutic exercise, ultrasound, hydrotherapy and other techniques to ease pain, treat wounds and regain physical health.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists maximize our residents independence in performing activities of daily living and self-care skills as: feeding, dressing, bathing and grooming. Our specialists restore prior abilities lost through illness or injury such as: brain, spinal cord or peripheral nerve injury. They focus on improving hand and arm function, and upper body strength. Graded activities, safety training and other compensatory techniques are utilized by licensed occupational therapists. They are specialists in recommending adaptive equipment and environmental changes to help residents adjust safely in their own environment. These skills enable our residents to complete life tasks at their highest functional level.

Speech Language Therapy

Speech/Language Pathologist evaluate and assist residents with all areas of communication due to stroke, neurological disorders, head injury, surgery, articulation delay, or a voice disorder. Treatment can improve the ability to express words and thoughts, understand and follow directions, read, write and gesture. Our specialists also treat residents with swallowing disorders which includes: chewing, choking and aspiration. Tracheostomy and respiratory residents benefit from treatment with Speech Pathologists. Cognitive and linguistic skills are provided for residents with reduced memory, lack of concentration, difficulty problem-solving and safety skills due to brain injury or dementia.

Family Support

When family members can contribute to our residents progress during rehabilitation treatment and programs, we encourage them to demonstrate their support and involvement through active participation in therapies. In addition, our Social Work Department will assist the family and resident with community resources for continued care, equipment and services upon discharge to home.

Safety and Security

Every room in Northlake is equipped with a strategically located emergency call system, which assures immediate and professional help at all times. Our security system alerts staff to any residents who may wander from the facility, and access to our building is supervised 24 hours a day. In addition, a sprinkler system, smoke detector and alarm system reinforces safety and security for our residents and their family members.

Dining Services

Elegantly prepared, appetizing menu selections are arranged by our experienced chef and nutritionist daily. Particular attention is always given to physician-ordered specialized or restricted diets. All meals and snacks are planned towards satisfying a variety of tastes, while promoting overall health and total nutrition. Our dining services meet Northlake's highest standards of cuisine excellence. Our Dietary Department is available to residents or families for any concerns, questions or compliments.
